Proxy Switch Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This policy covers the Proxy Switch extension for Google Chrome, published by Apex Meridian Group LLC (“we”, “us”). It explains what data the extension handles, where that data goes, and what it never does. Our VGC Browser Privacy Policy covers our other products and this website.
In short: Proxy Switch has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your proxy list stays in your own browser. We do not collect, receive or sell any of your data.
1. Data the extension handles
- Your proxy list: the proxy addresses, ports, optional names and optional usernames/passwords that you type or paste into the extension.
- Your settings: which proxy is selected, whether the proxy is on, and whether WebRTC leak protection is enabled.
The extension does not read the content of the web pages you visit. It does not record your browsing history, keystrokes, cookies or form data.
2. Where your data is stored
All of the data above is stored only on your device, in Chrome’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). It is not synced to your Google account, and it is never sent to us. Removing the extension deletes this data.
3. Where your data is sent
- Your proxy server: while a proxy is on, Chrome sends your browsing traffic through the proxy server you chose. When that proxy asks for a login, the extension sends the username and password you saved for it, and only to that proxy. We do not operate these proxy servers; their own privacy policies apply.
- IP check (only when you click “Check IP”): the extension sends one request to ipwho.is to show your current public IP address, country, city and ISP. This request does not include your proxy list or credentials. The result is shown to you and is not stored.
Nothing else is sent anywhere. We have no server that receives data from the extension.
4. Why the extension needs its permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
proxy | To route Chrome’s traffic through the proxy you select, and to turn the proxy off. |
webRequest, webRequestAuthProvider | To answer your proxy server’s login request with the username and password you saved. Login requests from websites are ignored. |
privacy | To turn on WebRTC leak protection, so WebRTC cannot reveal your real IP address while a proxy is on. |
storage | To save your proxy list and settings on your device. |
| Access to all sites | Proxy login requests can happen on any site you visit, so the extension needs this to log in to your proxy on every site. It does not read or change page content. |
5. Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell, rent or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising, credit checks or any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose: connecting Chrome through the proxies you provide.
6. Security
Your data stays inside Chrome on your device. Anyone with access to your Chrome profile can see the proxy list, so protect your computer and Chrome profile as you would any saved password.
7. Children
Proxy Switch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from children.
8. Changes
If we change how the extension handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date before the change is released.
